Mick George Creates Employment Opportunities
During this period of economic downturn, the construction industry has been one of those hardest hit. However, it has not all been doom and gloom in the industry as St Ives-based construction supplier, Mick George Limited, has been bucking the trend to the extent they have been creating new employment opportunities.
As one of the leading suppliers to the construction industry in the heart of East Anglia and East Midlands, Mick George Limited has seen its business grow despite the effects of the recession. 'Our specialist services, including bulk excavation, earthmoving services, skip hire, waste management services and aggregate supply are much in demand,'states Mick George’s Finance Director, Jon Stump. 'We have worked extremely hard over the last eighteen months proactively promoting our business and the services we offer in construction and waste to both the B2B and B2C markets which has generated additional opportunities for us and which has created over 20 new posts in recent months to enable us to cope with the workload.'
The new posts have been in sales and administration as well as the operational side of the business. 'We have received an extraordinary number of applications for all of these positions,' commented Jon Stump. 'With unemployment high and job vacancies extremely limited, this is bound to happen.'
'The market remains a tough operating environment but there are many positive signs. We continue to emphasise to all of our employees the importance of good customer service and continual proactive development to ensure we remain on top of our game. Hopefully this could mean that we will need to further expand our workforce to cope with future influx of work as we expand our operations and locations further.....watch this space!'
